Calling All Puppies!
Who doesn’t love dogs? I mean really even if you consider yourself a cat person you still like dogs, right? Even a little bit? Landon and I consider ourselves pretty big dog people. We don’t have one yet though and that makes poor Annie so sad. She has plenty of doggos in her life though. She has a puppy at her dad’s house, both grandma’s houses, and even Landon’s old dog that still lives with his parents. You have probably seen photos of Donut because before Annie and I came along that was London’s favorite thing to photograph. Anytime we get to hangout with dogs, we really like to soak up that oh so important puppy love. We got to do just that the other night at one of our photo shoots.
We were working with Spinning Wheels Designs on another photo shoot for their new t-shirts coming online. One of their shirts talks about being a dog mom. Well, what would be more perfect than having a real-life puppy there to be in the photos? Nothing would be more perfect. So, I called my sister who just happened to have a brand-new puppy, to ask if we could borrow him. His name is Walter by the way. He is super fun, cute and full of energy. Not to mention he has these drop dead gorgeous green eyes. Walter is everything we needed for a puppy photo shoot! Luckily, my sister was available that night to not only lend us Walter but sneak a peak of how we work at a shoot.
Our model at this shoot was Cassie. She is an amazing model to work with. She is super flexible and is not afraid of the camera at all! Best of all, she was super excited to work with Walter. Cassie is a huge bow hunter herself so she has a few of her own dogs. Cassie and Walter hit it off right away. By the end of the session, they were the best of buds. Taking photos with a dog can actually be really challenging though. Then to add on top of that we were supposed to be able to read the logo on the t-shirt. I have to give Cassie a lot of credit because that was a lot to remember and work with. She did a really great job despite the puppy kisses, constant adjusting the shirt, and mini breaks when Walter ran away. We got spectacular photos of Cassie, Walter and the shirt that I am sure everyone involved will be happy with.
I have to admit, I would give anything to do more shoots with animals. Doesn’t have to be just dogs, I would even do a shoot with a pet fish if someone asked me. I just really love being around animals and getting to capture them in a photo is even more fun. So, if you or anyone you know, loves the idea of a photo shoot with their best bud (fur, fins, even scales acceptable) let them know. We are the photographers with an animal passion that can’t be beat!
